I alternate the type of map I play on, I mainly play on archipelago, Terra and Fantastical Here's my other post with a link to my mods, I've added truly abundant resources since Just realized I had the map size wrong, I think gigantic is the second largest, that's the one I normally play on but I always forget the name :p I love the slower game speed, I love having eras last much longer it feels more immersive. My favorite things about my setup are that I have space to expand and time to experience the game. I like to minimize the "Luck" factors in my games.ĭefault number of city states for ludicrous is 56, and at least 8 city states are going to get conquered. Keeps the civs that neglect military in check. Huge jungles or mountain ranges may look cool, but I'm fine without them. Ive found changing these settings to be too disruptive to be immersive or fun. World age, start pos, temperature, rainfall, sealevel: Always standard. I use a mod called truly abundant, which provides a setting called "Plentiful" it's perfect imo. Huge empires can still be huge by comparison, but never feel overbloated. Snowballing is also a huge problem on bigger maps. To the point where there's still a bunch of unclaimed space which breaks immersion. My cpu can handle huge, but honestly those maps just seem too big. Sometimes I do fractals to spice things up, but it's too chaotic sometimes. Most beautiful, fun immersive and interesting map to me. Do people really ever pick anything else? Map: Continents. Marathon is too daunting and makes me feel like I'm wasting my life. The game's pacing is dead wrong, and I dont like reaching late game so quickly. King is just hard enough that I cant relax, but rarely feels impossible to win unless someone dominates the continent im not on. Prince seems just too easy to be fun for me as an experienced player, and Emperor is too op. Much welcome depth and strategy to mid/late game. I think they hit a home run with the R&F update. Their first contact bonuses are powerful, and getting lucky with city state placement can really snowball a civ hard. Default 15 is too many city states for me. The default 10 civs for large maps doesnt seem like enough players late game after 2-4 of them have been eliminated.Ĭity states: 10-12. Not 100% sure what makes me like these civs, except for America because that's where I live.Ĭivs: 12. Player civ: (By percent games played) America, Japan, Congo, France, Arabia. My preferred game set up that I use for pretty much every single game I play is: I want to see how other players in the community like to experiene civ 6 as of the most recent update. I prefer immersion and consistency of pace. I've never played a single online pvp game, and when I play, I play mostly for the "story" of the game. I've been playing civilization for about a decade now, and I've found my style of play to be very casual.
